December 27, 2025

All of us at JohnMilner.ca (which is to say, I) hope that everyone’s holiday (also known as Christmas) was happy and healthy. I was disappointed to learn that today is not Wrestling Day. That particular occasion isn’t until January 2 and just in Williams Lake, British Columbia.

I’d say that Christmas around the Milner house was “chill” but I think that’s what the cool kids say, and we all know where I stand with them. Instead of any big family get-together, my Mom just kinda hung out, listening to Stingray Music’s Jukebox Hits channel and relaxing. I want to thank everyone who reached out to my Mom and I to wish us a Merry Christmas. It was very much appreciated. With the weather and scheduling issues, it’s another year where we’ve had to postpone our Christmas festivities until into the New Year.

See, this is another reason why I have no clue why they have Christmas in December. (Shortest days of the year, the risk of bad weather every single day, cold and flu season, having to be dressed up in heavy clothing to go anywhere.) I know someone’s going to tell me that it has something to do with the harvest and the farmers but between Bill Gates and vegans, it’s not like society is doing farmers any favours anyways.

Christmas in July on the other hand? Long days. Good weather. Go Christmas shopping in shorts and t-shirts. Everyone usually wants to take vacations in July so why not just combine it with your Christmas vacations? As for the religious aspect, most studies indicate that Jesus wasn’t born in December, anyways.

See, this is what happens when no one you know actually reads your blog. You can go off on rants. Maybe I will do that more in 2026. (Just wait until you read what I have to say about social media!)

But seriously folks, I hope everyone had safe travels over the holidays, especially with all the ice and snow. It’s because of such things that Mom and I have been sticking close to home as of late. A few runs over to Ingersoll to get supplies has been about it. My Mom added some minions (?), mideons (?), millions – I wish!…sorry, mullions (Google it) to the windows on the house. I keep trying to get to work on all the different things I want to get done before the New Year but I don’t seem to be having too much luck. (This is probably an overstatement as I have crossed a few minor things off my To Do list.)

I watched the first two episodes of Shoresy on Christmas Day and my Mom and have added Mantracker (which is on Amazon Prime) to our own personal TV Guide, along with Storage Wars and Cheers. I’ve tossed on Generation Kill, Galactica 1980, and rewatched all of Black Books over the last few weeks. Tubi keeps showing this “Kid Racers” documentary on their NASCAR channel and I’m not overly interested in watching that. They did show the 2003 Pepsi 400 which was the late Greg Biffle’s first win. (Again, whoever is programming that channel is a genius!)

As I said earlier, Mom and I were listening to Stingray Music on Christmas Day and I heard Dusty Springfield’s “Little By Little” and I’ve basically been listening to it ever since.

Since this will be the last blog of 2025, all I can say is “Thank the Lord!” Can’t wait for this %*$&*$@# year to be over! As the late Owen Hart once said “Enough is enough! It’s time for a change!” And as the late Michael Jackson once said “I’m starting with the man in the mirror. I’m asking him to change his ways!” I know that song was talking about changing the world and I’m not setting my sights that lofty. I just want to improve my own life and the lives of those around me.
