My Mom and I thought this would be a quiet week, and while it didn’t quite work out that way, there’s still not a whole lot to write about. (At least, write about and make it interesting to read. I mean, even I have my limits.)

We did make a couple of trips into London, including one trip for some business that I will keep under my hat for now, so as not to jinx anything.

The other trip was to finalize our purchase of a new refrigerator. A couple of weeks ago, we had noticed that the ice cube maker had stopped doing just that – making ice cubes. (Come on! You had ONE job!!!) We decided that we needed to get a replacement. Turns out, it was not a moment too soon. It’s like our current refrigerator heard that it was being replaced and decided to start phoning it in.

My Mom has decided to take the delivery of our new fridge as an excuse to rearrange things in the kitchen. I have decided to take that reorganization as a sign that it’s time for me to rearrange my NASCAR room and the office that I’ve been trying to utilize in our old workshop. I figure it will give me something to do over the weekend.

I have been taking advantage of the nicer weather that we’ve enjoyed this past week. (Any week that doesn’t involve getting a dozen tornado warnings on my phone is a win for me at this point.) Sure it means that I have to get out and cut the lawn (which I did on Monday) but it also gives me a chance to sit out on our back porch and read over the lunch hour and after supper.

As is usual with me, I am reading two books at a time. I am just finishing up Son of the Old West: The Odyssey of Charlie Siringer: Cowboy, Detective, Writer of the Wild Frontier by Nathan Ward, which will be reviewed for an upcoming issue of Shelf Life.

At the same time, I have decided to curtail my book purchases until I finish up all the unread books I have. To that end, I am nearly finished In My Life: The Brian Epstein Story by Debbie Geller.

I’ve noticed recently that I work better when I’m not surrounded by silence. For the most part, I listen to Sirius XM but recently I’ve started binge-watching Spin City. I’m on Season 4, I believe, as Michael J. Fox is still part of the cast.

On that note, I will close off for another week. Feel free to drop me a line on Facebook Messenger (either text or voice mail) and take care of yourselves until we meet again.
