I wanted to get a jump on the Thanksgiving weekend by getting a bunch of stuff done, and that included completing this week’s blog update.

It sure seemed like Mom and I were on the road a lot this week. We started off on Monday with a trip to the One Of A Kind Antique Mall in Woodstock. And before you ask “Aren’t you there at least once a week?” the answer is “No…it just seems like that!”

On Wednesday, we went to Delhi to visit the Courtland Treasures and Antique Emporium, to take part in their 20th anniversary sale.

In between all that, we made the usual trips to London and Ingersoll for one thing or another. Let’s just say we put a few kilometres more than normal on the Milner #3 Chevrolet. Mom and I both picked up some treasures along the way. If you live in the Southwestern Ontario area and are looking for some cool places for collectibles, those should be on the top of your destination list. (Just leave me any Dale Earnhardt stuff you might find.)

Not all of our adventures took place on the road, mind you. Our old bird feeder was in need of replacement, so my Mom and I (although it was mostly my Mom with me helping) decided to use some scrap pieces we had around the house to build a new one. We did most of the work last weekend and installed it on Tuesday morning.

I mean, it’s not exactly the Taj Mahal but it cost us nothing but about an hour of labour. (Most of that was spent trying to get the wheels off the base. My Dad had used it to built a platform for one of his tools.) The local wildlife, including the squirrels, birds, and chipmunks, have already started to make us of it.

I’m still keep checking the job boards. I was kinda hoping that things would pick up after Labour Day, with summer vacations coming to an end and these organizations starting to focus on filling positions. If anything, the last couple of weeks have seen a severe decrease in jobs that are worth applying for. I figure by now most people are powering down for the long weekend but maybe once Thanksgiving is over, things will start picking up again.

Ironically enough, I plan to ramp up my efforts to work away on my To Do list over the next four days. Some of that will be job-hunt related but I also have a bunch of projects that I’d like to get to. (Of course, I say that every weekend, whether it’s a three-day or two-day weekend.)

Of course, I may decide to pull an all-night writing session. I am currently closing in on 30,000 words on my novel and am really enjoying the writing. It’s nice to sit down in the evening and just get to work on the story.

My Mom and I finished up the Cheers binge-watch last Friday. I had given my Mom a few options from my own TV on DVD collection and it looked like we were veering towards How I Met Your Mother. Then I also checked out some of the Crave TV offerings and suggested Frasier. That seemed to be a good follow-up to Cheers and so we’ll see what the Cranes have to offer over the next while.

As always, I hope everyone has a safe, healthy and happy week ahead and we’ll meet back here next Friday for my next update.
