While my Mom and I didn’t head out on any exciting adventures, we did stop in the thriving metropolises of Embro and Ingersoll. This time out it wasn’t just to get groceries and supplies. Instead, I was helping out in my community by dropping off the Ingersoll District Nature Club’s Activity Calendar at several places. I also did a walking tour of sorts in Thamesford, dropping off the calendars in several more spots.
As always, if anyone is in the Oxford County area and is looking for a fun and easy way to get involved in their community, check out the Club’s Activity Calendar. About once a month, they offer up a road trip to a nature reserve or conservation area. They are also hosting nature talks at the Ingersoll library and continue to provide stewardship to the Lawson Nature Reserve.
I wish I could tell you that I was finding some success with the job hunt. I’ve continued to check the job boards on a twice-daily basis and apply for anything that looks like I might be a good fit for. My goal is to apply for 10 jobs this week. I almost reached that goal but there was one that, the more I thought about it, the more I realized it probably wasn’t for me. (P.S. As I’m writing this, I just got an email from Glassdoor Jobs and there is a job in St. Marys I might take a look at. I might still get my 10th in after all.)
The big excitement is that this is Glencoe Fair weekend. My Mom and I aren’t planning to take in the fair itself. (Too much walking for her and not enough return on the investment.) However, we will be taking in the parade. Check out my Facebook page and/or next week’s blog to see my photos.
Speaking of the Glencoe Fair, I ordered the book “The History of the Glencoe Fair” but Glencoe and area historian Harold Carruthers off Amazon. It’s a great deal at $15 and tells the story about how the Fair came about and some of the milestones and highpoints of the history of the Fair. (Did you know that Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon played the Fair?) If you’re interested in some local history for Glencoe, check it out.
