February 20, 2026

Okay, so who had freezing rain and lightning in mid-February on their Bingo card? Because that is exactly what we got here on Wednesday night.

Due to the weather, my Mom and I limited our “On the Road” adventures, keeping it to a couple of trips to Ingersoll for groceries and Dollarama/Giant Tiger supplies.

You know, it used to be that when it was a short work week, it always seemed SOOOO long. With me “working from home,” so to speak, this short week was just that. It seemed that all of a sudden, it was Thursday.

As for my continued job hunt, I don’t want to jinx myself so I won’t go into too many details. I will say however that there may be a couple of irons in the fire. Instead of just tossing out resumes and applications all for naught, I actually got some response. Nothing’s in place just yet, but there’s definitely a few more irons in the fire than there have been previously. (Basically, if you know of any organizations in the area looking for a communications person, tell them to get off their @$$ because this one might not be on the market for too much longer.)

Speaking of social media, I think I’ve started to FINALLY kick that habit. I decided to stay off social media during Daytona 500 weekend. I jumped on Reddit a bit to check on some things, but even that got to be too much for me after a while. I can’t say I’ve kicked the habit 100% but my default when I sit down at the computer is no longer to check Facebook or Instagram, etc. I’ve become more dependent on my phone to check for Facebook messages than the platform itself so that helps. (Hey, if you want to say Hi! on Facebook Messenger and start a conversation via text or voice message, feel free!)

Between trying to detoxify my life as much as possible, and the fact that most posts I see on any social media platform feeds do not coincide with my interests at all, I’ve just stopped wanting to deal with that *&#%. (Mind you, I will miss all these attractive but very random young woman following me for about 30 seconds on Instagram. I’m sure they’re legitimately interested in my posts about NASCAR and my Mom’s home improvement projects.)

I still will jump on from time to time to update some of the social media accounts I run, plus of course, let all my loyal blog fans know that there’s new content.

Speaking of which, I made a goof last week. I didn’t explicitly say that my February 13 post on Facebook was a link to my blog. Plus, a lot of the wording was directed towards the weekend’s running of the Daytona 500. I guess the combination is what lead to no one reading my blog last week. Oh well, if you want to go back and read it, you can do so here. (And if you want to get really adventurous, you can check out my Thoughts on Daytona article.)

I’ll sign off by saying that I hope everyone has a great week and stays safe and healthy. I’ll check in again next week.
