January 22, 2026

I would apologize for the lack of a blog last week but I really doubt anyone noticed or cared, except for the population of North Bergen, New Jersey, which seems to be checking out my website on a regular basis. (I’m secretly hoping that it’s either Ice-T or A.J. Lee.)

To be perfectly honest, there hasn’t been a whole lot to check in about. Thanks to the weather, my Mom and I have stayed pretty close to home, just venturing out to Ingersoll to get groceries. (Wow! I just realized just how long it has been since I’ve really been anywhere. To steal a phrase that’s probably been used in reference to me more than a few times, “I really need to get out of the house more!”)

It’s been kind of a disappointing couple of weeks, on a couple of fronts. Won’t go into details but I will admit that I’ve lost out on a couple of possible jobs. In the end, I can look at each of the rejections and think “Okay, that wasn’t the right fit” but obviously I’d like to have advanced at least a little bit further in the process. However, I’m trying to keep myself optimistic and back into a routine during what would otherwise pass for the work week. I was looking back to see how many jobs I had applied for in the past week and it’s a substantial number, so I am pleased about that.

Oh hey, and I finally got off my lazy @$$ and sent a query for one of my novels off to a publisher, something I’ve been trying to motivate myself to do for years. Meanwhile I hauled another manuscript out and am getting ready to send it out. I want to give it a read over to spruce it up where necessary, although about a third of the way through, I’m looking at it and thinking that it looks pretty good as is. I’ll be sending that one off shortly as well. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that maybe this time, some publisher will take a nibble.

For the last week and a half, I have been having this weird pain in my stomach and chest. For a brief moment, I wondered if I was having a heart attack but the discomfort, which I guess is a better word for it, seemed to be all over the place. I’m not sure if it’s gas or stress or what. While I can’t say that I’m 100% better, this discomfort isn’t occurring all the time. (I find it crops up after I’ve been laying down.)

I figure I gotta get feeling better for this weekend, because it’s back to some form of racing, even if NASCAR’s Busch Clash (or however they’ve branded it this year) isn’t back until next weekend. This weekend, meanwhile, has the NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductions (Kurt Busch! Harry Gant! Ray Hendrick!) and the Rolex 24 at Daytona (Tommy Milner!). I am hoping that “Race for the Seat,” the reality show about young drivers competing for a chance to drive one of the Kaulig Ram entries in the Craftsman Truck Series this season, is on a channel I can get.

Hey! I just remembered. Not all is lost! As some of you may remember from my Facebook post from last weekend, I came across an episode of the December 24, 1990 episode of WWF Prime Time Wrestling that featured not one but TWO matches that were recorded at the London Gardens that me and my good friend, Dee Arthur, attended. If you look close at the crowd, about three rows back, there she and I are. Check out the link above if you want to watch some old time wrestling, or you just want to see Dee and I watching wrestling.
